Hello, welcome to konyoha.com, in this post I will show you how to install a DotOS custom ROM on Poco X3 Pro with the codename vayu/bhima. Before going into the tutorial, I will explain about this ROM.
DroidOnTime (DotOS) is an AOSP-based android custom ROM developed by the DotOS Team. This ROM offers a unique user interface and optimal performance, but still maintains a balance between performance and battery life.
In addition, this Custom ROM also provides an OTA update system with the latest security patches once a month. So, don’t worry about its security and stability.
For the DotOS version that we will install this time is version 5.2.1 which is the final version of the update for Android 11. And then they will focus on developing DotOS version 6.0 based on Android 12.
- You have to be willing to lose your phone warranty. If you don’t want to lose the warranty, don’t do this.
- Back up data. This is mandatory because the installation process will delete all data (such as photos, videos, etc.) on the internal memory.
- Unlock the Bootloader of your Poco X3 Pro.
- Flash custom recovery (TWRP) on Poco X3 Pro.
- Download DotOS 5.2.1 or later. There are two variants, namely Vanilla (without the Google application) and Gapps (already includes the Google application), and in this tutorial we are using the Gapps version.
If everything is ready, it’s time for us to enter the installation steps.
Step by step to Install Dot OS on Poco X3 Pro
Time needed: 30 minutes.
- Reboot to Recovery Mode
First, enter recovery mode by pressing and holding the
Volume upbutton until the Poco logo appears, then release the
Powerbutton while still holding the
volume upbutton until it successfully enters TWRP.
- Wipe Data
Wipe data by going to Wipe > Advanced Wipe. Check Dalvik, Data, and Cache, then slide the Swipe to wipe button to the right to continue. After the Wipe Data process is complete, return to the main menu by pressing the Home button.
- Install ROM
Go to the Install menu and find the folder where you saved the DotOS ROM file that was downloaded earlier.
Flash the ROM by clicking the file, then slide the Swipe to confirm Flash button to continue and wait for the flashing process to complete. When finished, return to the Home menu.
- Format Data
Format the data by selecting Wipe > Format Data, then type Yes to continue.
- Reboot System
Click Reboot System and wait for the phone to turn on until it enters the initial setup page.
So far, we have successfully installed DotOS on the Poco X3 Pro, then do the initial setup until you get to the home screen.
In my opinion, this custom rom is very good, especially its unique user interface, smooth, and good battery life, so it is very suitable for daily use.
Then, this ROM also offers very high performance, as evidenced by the tests we did on the Antutu V9, the score reached 562,885. So this ROM is perfect for gamers.
